Taking the Time

In talking to many REALTORS® today—in sessions, on the walk between hotels, and in committee meetings—I noticed one thing that all these discussions had in common: optimism. REALTORS® are hopeful, they’re positive, and they’re pushing themselves and the association to be better, more efficient, more valuable. I have heard thoughtful, practical, and creative ideas throughout the day, but one thing really struck me: REALTORS® giving their time.

I heard a member of the leadership team give some incredibly heartfelt thanks to an NAR committee for giving their ideas, their best efforts, and their expertise, but most of all their time.

This really made me stop and think. Some days (one might say most days), there’s just not enough time. It’s perhaps a person’s most valuable resource. Real estate is a unique industry in so many ways, but perhaps the most obvious is the 24×7 nature of the business. REALTORS® don’t have a lot of time to give, yet they do just that. Dedicated members find the time and invest the energy to keep the business of their association moving forward.

It’s inspiring to those of us working on their behalf, and stirs a whole new level of optimism.
