Great Article! My comment is in regards to what researchers at several universities study reveals about Renting vs Buying a Home referred to as ” The Hurdle Rate”. When planning long term financial investing and one’s housing needs, Indeed now is a great time to buy a home instead of renting. In the Long Island area, prices of homes are now at the level of prices of homes purchased during 2003. In contrast, renting costs for housing needs, increased yearly at 3% each year with no assurance of accumulating wealth, or taking advantage of home ownership tax benefits.

I think there’s some BS flying around here. What makes home ownership so much better than renting? Wealth building? What wealth has been built lately? People are being sold the American dream by the likes of the Mortgage Bankers Association and the NAR so that they continue to build THEIR wealth. If mortgages went away think about how many banks would go under then!! They need their mortgage money (and the NAR need your dues) or there’s no real way for big banks (or NAR) to make millions. Who’s the biggest lobby in DC? The NAR!! Take a break and look at the facts. You agents are making a modest living at best and most of your income goes to the NAR and your local board which does absolutely nothing for you. It’s like working for a union shop. You join the union or you dont work, period. Should be illegal
